Dark Skies VR 360

Multicity Pop-Up Activation

Travel Nevada Dark Skies - 1

Introduction

Get ready to see a different side of Nevada, one that’s less neon light and more starlight.

NRG created a multi-city activation for Travel Nevada to encourage more visits to the state’s great outdoors. From Chicago to Seattle and Bend, Oregon, guests were transported to Nevada’s beautiful natural wonders with the help of VR headsets, breathtaking imagery, and friendly ambassadors to usher them through their virtual trip.

From glamping living areas to an uber-cool yurt, we pulled out all the stops to help guests connect with nature and their next vacation destination.

What We Did

Bringing The Wonder Of The Wilderness To Cities Nationwide

There’s a lot to do in Nevada; Reno and Las Vegas barely scratch the surface. That’s why Travel Nevada enlisted NRG to help put the state’s multitude of treasures– including 24 state parks and 2 national parks– on the map.

Inspired by the transformative power of Nevada’s landscape, Space Out Nevada was born. For two days in the target city of Chicago, the renowned Pioneer Court was transformed into a glamping environment, complete with a yurt, naturalistic photo ops, and VR experiences.

The activation encouraged visitors to “get a little out there” through a rich tapestry of color, imagery and contemporary outdoor brands. Plus, the chance to win a trip to Nevada certainly didn’t hurt.

After registering for the sweepstakes, attendees were greeted by seating areas and games to enjoy while they awaited their turn at the VR experience. Once inside the yurt, they donned a headset and entered a 360 degree immersive journey throughout the state of Nevada. Footage included soaring views of Cathedral Gorge, Great Basin National Park, and more. After their virtual trip, guests were treated to custom branded swag prior to their departure.

Following a wildly successful run in Chicago, event dates were added for Seattle, Washington and Bend, Oregon, to coincide with the existing music festivals– Bumbershoot and the Cascade Equinox Festival, respectively– to capture the built-in audience. Thanks to an adaptable activation footprint, the experience scaled well to the range of venues without sacrificing audience interaction.
