Introduction
This music licensing course helped students get in the game– literally.
2K Foundations enlisted NRG to design, create and plan the 10-week program, which gave aspiring artists the opportunity to win a place for their music in a 2K game.
What We Did
Provide Universal Access To A Music Licensing & Business Course
The course, which was administered in collaboration with Studio Express and Underground Music academy, marked 2K Foundations first-ever music licensing program. Participants benefited from direct access to industry professionals and top-caliber talent including mentorship directly from representatives at 2K Music. These industry leaders provided valuable insights into licensing and how to submit music for industry projects.
During the experience, students attended a 6-week speaker series, followed by 4-weeks of coursework and studio work to develop tracks they’d ultimately submit for in-game consideration. By the end of the course, 4 tracks were selected to be featured in NBA 2K25!
