Community Court - Chicago, Illinois

2K Foundations Anthony Davis Project - 1

Introduction

For the Louis L. Valentine Boys & Girls Club on Chicago’s Southside, NRG helped video game publisher 2K along with NBA All-Star Anthony Davis deliver a slam dunk.

Together, the team unveiled a fully-refurbished basketball facility for the club, much to the delight of the neighborhood kids.

The club has long been a resource for STEM workshops, sports and recreation. The efforts included creating a revitalized game room, finished with a customized gaming console courtesy of Xbox.

What We Did

Update Facilities With The Boys & Girls Clubs

Alongside 2K Foundations, Xbox and Ruffles, Anthony Davis unveiled a refurbished gym and tricked-out game room, complete with electrifying art by fellow Chicagoan Max Sansing. Behind the scenes, NRG brought it all together, with event production and community engagement that connected the resources, organizations, and people to get the job done.

Sleeves rolled up and heads in the game, the NRG team lined up every component–from contractors to furnishing and scoreboards–delivering the grit and grind that makes real philanthropy possible. In addition to new basketball equipment, the revitalization included ceiling-suspended backstops and breakaway rims.

The new court was unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and christened with a long 3-pointer by AD himself.
